BCA Intermodal (BCA) was established in 2003 and is specialised in container transport throughout the river networks of the Benelux region, Germany, France and Switzerland. BCA is one of the fastest growing barge operators in the Netherlands. While its goods flow consists mainly of containers, BCA also transports mixed, bulk and project cargo.
The logistical hub of operations is in the company’s home base of Amsterdam, where water, rail and road converge. The container and roll on/roll off terminal in the Amerikahaven of sister company United Stevedores Amsterdam (USA) is in a perfect location. An added benefit is the proximity to Schiphol Amsterdam, one of Europe’s largest airports.
In partnership with its sister companies, BCA offers a wide range of logistic services such as clearing, customs document preparation and establishing contacts with shipping companies and terminals. The depot offers the opportunity to store or repair containers.
The company has regular departures to various national and international destinations including nearly all ARA seaports and inland shipping terminals. Logistical management is in hands of the Amsterdam head office. In march 2010 a new office was launched at terminal Sud in the French city of Strasbourg. This new extension of the BCA network will operate under the company name Barge Company d’Alsace. BCA offers a fast and efficient service and is a reliable partner for intermodal container transport. Its clients include shipping companies, freighters and other logistics enterprises.
Via BCA in 2011, part of port and logistics company the Ter Haak Group, starts a new rail shuttle service between the port of Rotterdam and the tri-modal inland terminal in Strasbourg, France. The Alsace Rail Shuttle will initially comprise two departures per week in each direction.
Freight bookings will be handled by BCA.
